The Seachange Release: Civil 3D 2008

I think Civil 3D 2008 will be the "Seachange Release"  and in the next 12 months, new converts will outnumber current Civil 3D users.  The reason?  Civil 3D 2008 is generating a lot of great buzz.

Beta Buzz.  With prior releases, only a few, elite, in-the-know techies were invited to the beta testing parties.  But with this upcoming release, Autodesk is giving anyone with an email address and some spare time the chance to download the beta and provide feedback.  Haven't joined the beta bandwagon yet?  Check out Autodesk Labs for more information about joining the worldwide network of beta testers.

Blog Buzz.  Never before has so much information been published about a product 2 months before its release.  There are some great blogs saturating the market with information about features, functions, and really cool new features.  And one company has already announced plans to publish the only Civil 3D 2008 reference guide you'll ever need.  (I've already preordered my copy here.  Have you ordered yours?)

Customer Buzz.  From my perspective (as a reseller/consultant), I've seen our Civil 3D support traffic more than double compared to this time last year.  I bet this won't trail off anytime soon.

A rising tide floats all boats, as the saying goes.  This year will be the one where everyone who's anyone adopts Civil 3D.  And I'm betting that this time next year, we'll all be calling Civil 3D 2008 "the seachange release."
